OTAGO SENIOR INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT 2026

Competition Information

When: 14-15 February, 2026

Where: Edgar Centre, Dunedin 

Who: Senior schools attending Mainland Champs

Cost: TBD

Purpose: This tournament will be used to determine seedings for Otago teams heading to Mainland Champs.

Team Lists: Need to be uploaded through Sporty by Friday 13th February at 3pm. Individuals not registered to the team via Sporty by this date will require written approval from the school principal. 

Tournament Format Notes:

Boys' Grade:

The competition will be run as a straight pool play, with final results and seedings determined by the number of wins.

Girls' Grade: 

Teams will compete in pool play on Saturday. The bottom team in each pool will play off for 5th/6th place on Saturday with the team who finishes as 1A doing duty. The 5th and 6th place teams will then be finished for the weekend and are not required to come in on the Sunday. The top two teams in each pool will progress to semifinals on Sunday followed by the bronze and final games. 

The reason for the different structures between the girls’ and boys’ competitions is to condense the tournament where possible, ensuring we can complete the games efficiently while avoiding overloading players with too many games in one day. We’ve done our best to create a fair and balanced structure and greatly appreciate your understanding and support.
